Numerous factors prove whether you can work and study in UK or not. First of all, the UK university you are enrolling in and the course program that you are taking has a lot to say about your eligibility to work and study, and the working hours to pull in a week.

How to Work and Study in UK

There are hundreds of universities in UK. Due to how good they are, students from different countries come to UK to study. Also, they don’t allow students to only study but also work part-time jobs. You have the right to choose where to work if your school, course program, and your hometown permit. The good news is that students from European, EEA, and Switzerland don’t need permission to take up a job while taking their courses in the UK.

Other students will need to take permission before they work and study in the UK. The first requirement is that you will be holding a Tier 4 visa – the name of a UK student visa for foreigners. On the other hand, being under 16 years will make me ineligible for a work and study program in the UK. Meanwhile, students from Switzerland, Eu/EEA are not weighted by this prohibition.

Not all UK students can work and study in the UK. You are a minimum of 17 years old student that has a tier 4 UK visa if you are a foreign student. The requirement is different for UK students and other countries mentioned above. Nonetheless, you are not allowed to engage in the nature of jobs mentioned below:

  1. An entertainer work.
  2. A freelance work.
  3. An entrepreneur works or be self-employed.
  4. Apart from being enrolled in a program, you are not qualified to work as a doctor in training.
  5. A sports coach or any professional sportsperson.
  6. A permanent job that is taken full time.

These nature of jobs are not on the list of work activities that will be considered when you intend to apply as a student attending a UK university.

In any of the job fields mentioned above, you are free to work 10 – 20 hours a week depending on your enrolled course and the type of visa you are holding. If you are below 16 years and among the countries that their citizens can work in the UK without permission, you are not allowed to work above 10 hours per week.
